Families ‘Rock’ Launch at Antones with Vallejo and the James Speer Band.

FamiliesRock! Antones with Vallejo and James Speer Band with an early hard rock show for Families with kids on Saturday April 14, 2007 from 1pm to 4pm launching the Families ‘Rock’ relay to help carry the burden for Families in need. Cost is $15 with one parent FREE per kid.

The Families ‘Rock’ is going to be introduced and on stage at this show ~ a literal ‘Rock’ to be relayed by Families that are signing up in numbers around the country to ‘carry the burden’ of Families in need. Proceeds from this show will help benefit a local Pflugerville Family ~ the Lehr Family of Isaac, Jonna, Naomi, Nate, Isaac Jr, and Ean. Isaac the father has been hit with a scary cancer at age 34 (myspace.com/iheartjonna). Families will work together helping satisfy the needs of Families while walking the Families ‘Rock’ around Austin and beyond.

The Families ‘Rock’ will be performing on stage with Vallejo ~ a band of brothers deeply rooted in their Latin Familia. Raised in the small town of El Campo, Texas, the band was first formed by the three Vallejo brothers A.J. (Vocals, Guitar), Alejandro (Drums), and Omar (Bass). Growing up in their household of Mexican and Guatemalan descent, the boys were introduced to the music of their parent’s record collection…

AJ, Alex, and Omar tell FamiliesRock that they respect their Family name and write and perform their songs with that integrity in mind. They expect much of their Family to be at this early show because they usually play late shows.

A striking blend of swaggering rock grooves, potent guitar work, Latin percussion and soulful lyrics has made VALLEJO one of the most popular bands to hail from Austin, Texas. The band has won numerous awards including Best Rock Band two years in a row at the Austin Music Awards, Austin's Aguila Award (which recognizes achievement in the Latin Community), awarded their own Vallejo Day by the mayor of Austin Texas, and was nominated for Univision's Best Latin Rock Band in Austin. Vallejo has also had their songs featured in several TV shows such as WB's Roswell, MTV's Road Rules & UPN's America's Top Model.

The Families ‘Rock’ will also be performing with the James Speer Band. Their music is the inheritance of American rock-n-roll, a blend of straight rock, pop and modern alternative. Their debut release, Sixes & Sevens, is piano-driven, passionate rock influenced by Peter Gabriel, Coldplay and Dave Matthews. Complex chord progressions blended with dynamic rhythms and keen melodies to form some of the most innovative music currently being played.
